Soft and squishy with a wonderful bounce, this woollen-spun, worsted-weight yarn is made by Christine of Rauwerk from Bavarian Merino, sourced from a single farm and spun in the Chiemgau region of southern Germany. Traditionally knitted at a tighter gauge to make sturdy, structured Bavarian trachten jackets, it is a perfect yarn for garments, displaying colourwork and textured stitches beautifully, as well as accessories, blankets and anything designed to keep you warm...
Dyed with plants collected around my neighbourhood in Glasgow, food waste and sustainably-produced raw plant material and dye extracts, these soft shades are light-fast but, like all natural dyes, may change and develop over time, a quality valued by many cultures.
These three shades were dyed with avocado and are warm, subtle nudes that work well as a neutral colour on their own or as a foil for stronger shades in colourwork. The light (top) and dark (bottom) are solid shades, while the mid (middle) has some variegation.
